Raised in Chester County, Pennsylvania, Tappenden holds a Bachelors degree in Advertising with a minor in Photography from the University of Florida. She has worked in the television and video industry for 30 years. She began her career in Gainesville, Florida, following the heartbeat of Florida horsemanship on the show "The Tack Room." She has produced videos for a variety of clientele, including Mary Ann Simonds, an equine behaviorist, Sore No-More Liniment, Equilite Inc., Arenus, Equi-Tape Kinesiology Tape for Horses and MacKinnon Ice Horse, manufacturer of equine ice therapy products. In 1995, Tappenden teamed up with Stacey Small, then of Ardsley, New York, and launched a quarterly newsletter, Holistic Horse, to spread the word about Integrative Medicine for horses. Back then, Small was actively showing and breeding horses while working on the New York Horse Racing circuit, doing equine therapy, while studying herbology. Tappenden is educated in Shiatsu Massage with additional training in equine acupressure, anatomy and physiology, as well as homeopathy. The partnership has blossomed into a multi-media franchise that now includes a bi-monthly print magazine, weekly eNewsletters, eBooks, and a website featuring thousands of articles, and dozens of instructional videos and radio interviews. Tappenden’s 30-plus years’ association with horses has brought her to owning and caring for horses at her family’s 10-acre farm in eastern Pennsylvania.
